Hey there!
It’s almost September. The fact that summer is ending is both melancholic but exciting at the same time.
This summer was amazing for me with its travels, concerts, strolls in the city, discovering new cafés and restaurants, hanging out with friends and family, making new recipes, reading, writing, and adopting a healthier lifestyle.
I don’t want this freedom to end. But every good thing has an end.
The school season is also close and I can’t wait to be back on my campus. To be honest, I missed all the hustle and bustle.
It is going to be my final year in university, and thankfully we’re going back to school this fall.
All the Covid online education situation and not being able to go to campus made me yearn for school and I can’t wait to be back and spend my final year in the best way possible.
I, unfortunately, couldn’t publish any articles this past week as I was on a short vacation before the season ends.
Dipping into the cold water, sunbathing, and resting rejuvenated me, and it inspired me to write and be more productive in general.
We returned home yesterday, after an 8-hour road trip. On the road trip, I finally finished the book I was reading for the longest time.
That book is 12 Rules for Life by Jordan Peterson. I talked about this book before in my previous newsletters.
I started reading it months ago, came halfway into it, and for some reason stopped reading it and dived into other books. But not that the book was boring or anything.
It was the opposite, actually. It’s as if each sentence in this book contained gold. I highlighted almost every sentence with my pencil. I guess I didn’t want to finish it quickly and wanted to savor each page.
There is a lot of prejudice on Jordan Peterson, from the people who don’t hear and try to understand what he’s saying, but I think he’s a very influential psychologist and an outstanding intellectual of our times. He makes some amazing points.
I first discovered him through his lecture videos on Youtube, really got into his stuff, and then decided to buy and read this book. It was the right decision.
The book is far from cliché self-help books. It’s brutally honest in its language and really motivates you to change yourself for the better, escape your victim mindset, and have the responsibility to change your and consequently others’ lives.
I’ll be continuing to keep this book on my nightstand and return to the wisdom it contains to have its amazing effect on my life.
I recommend anyone this eclectic book that incorporates psychology, philosophy, biology, literature, culture, and even religion (though I’m not a religious person, I enjoyed reading those parts as well) perfectly.
After having read this, I also want to read his latest book, Beyond Order. But I also have many books on my list to be read.
I will keep you updated on my reading list per usual, and hopefully, come up with more exciting stuff for you next week!
Thank you for sticking around here, hope to see you next week, take care!
